Methods of communications

Social networking refers to using the web to communicate and share information among friends and others. Business-oriented online networks, such as LinkedIn, are helpful for members seeking clients, business opportunities, jobs, or job candidates.

Email is the primary method of electronic communication worldwide and is a more private exchange of information. E-mails can be printed and forwarded to others. There are two different e-mail systerms:

  1. Web-based e-mail, such as Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, or Inbox, is managed with your web browser.
  2. E-mail client, such as Microsoft Outlook, requires a program to be installed on your computer.
Wiki and blogs allow users to post their ideas to the web. Wiki are documents created by multiple users, whereas blogs are created by a single user.

Podcasts and webcasts are audio or video files that are distributed over the Internet. A podcast is prerecorded and made available for download, whereas webcasts distributed in "real time," meaning that they're live or one-time events.

Streaming media, such as Instagram, YouTube, or Pinterest, allows users to create and share multimedia over the Internet
